About Amy Drake,
In 2022, Amy Drake was elected to Indiana's St. Joseph County Council to represent Clay Township.
The council, made up of nine representatives from the county's different geographical areas, handles the county's legislative and fiscal matters. Amy's 2022 win, by just 35 votes, allowed Republicans to take the majority of the seats on the council for the first time in St. Joseph County history.
Amy, a married mother of seven, made families the centerpiece of her campaign, running on the slogan "Families First."
Amy believes in common sense policies that build a stronger community -- where families are supported, businesses can grow and government stays in its lane. She believes that government -- like families do -- should balance its budget; she believes in supporting the police and our public safety infrastructure; she believes the county should focus on spending money on core responsibilities, like maintaining roads; and she believes in tax relief, such as the project she spearheaded to reduce the local property tax burden on seniors.
Amy believes in principles that include individual liberty, free speech, free press, freedom of religion, and the freedom to prosper without undue government interference and regulations. She believes in the right to life, and the right to defend yourself and your family.
Amy has spent the most meaningful years of her life as a stay-at-home mom, raising and educating her children. Amy, who studied journalism, has also worked as a Congressional speechwriter in Washington, D.C. and reporter for various publications.
